Honorable Mention Red Moon Rising Vienna (Carole Barley) Full at dusk. Clouds fray as if veils falling from your corn husk face. Big yellow moon wallows roundly in a thin sky. The air is cool, listless breeze fingers windchimes tangled amongst new leaves of travellers rest. Too early for perfume. Rolled in the hands of midnight you become fuller in the dark silence. A windowledged cat stares, hums a mantra for a moon blushed by an unseen sun. This is an night to take toes bare to grass, caress ferns and fronds lit by a pagan glow. There are no stars to speak of save those kept in the heart. Red moon rising, planetery shifts and lover's words in a drift of space. Portent in the shivered air, the shapes and shadows of things to come.
